Police hunt for man after racist attack

4:40pm Saturday 6th September 2008

POLICE have released this picture of a man they want to question about a racist assault on a 20-year-old Asian man on Saturday, May 31.

The victim was walking along Moss Bank Way in Astley Bridge with his cousin between 3.50am and 4.30am when they passed a taxi near Asda supermarket.

As they walked past, a man in the back of the taxi shouted racist abuse at the victim and then asked him what he was looking at.

The victim walked up to the taxi, asking the man what his problem was and telling him to calm down.

The attacker got out of the cab, walked up to the victim and punched him in the face. He fell to the ground and received a kick in the face which broke one of his teeth.

The man’s cousin was also injured when he was kicked as he tried to defend his cousin.
