A RAPE victim raised the alarm after persuading her alleged attacker to drive her to a supermarket.

And when officers took DNA samples from Umar Aziz, they found it matched evidence from an unsolved rape case three years earlier, jurors at Bolton Crown Court were told.

Aziz, aged 23, of Mason Gardens, Bolton, denies three charges of rape.

Iain Simkin, prosecuting, told the court how in June last year Aziz collected a 22-year-old woman from her parents’ home and took her for a drive in a stolen Nissan 4x4 car.

The woman, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, told the court via a video link how Aziz had been taking drugs and was driving erratically but he repeatedly refused her requests to take her home.

“He started getting angry because I kept telling him I wanted to go home,” she said. “I was scared.”

Aziz parked the car in Rivington and took crack cocaine and heroin before he pulled out a wad of notes amounting to £2,000 or £3,000 and put them on the dashboard.

“He just told me that he had more at home and if you let me do anything I want with you you can have this money and the money at home,” said the woman.

She added that she tried secretly dialling 999 for help on her mobile phone but didn’t succeed.

“I was getting very scared. I just wanted to get away,” she said.

Aziz then drove the car to a back street near Bolton School nursery where he took more drugs, grabbed her hair and kissed her and told her he would force her if she did not willingly have sex.

After she had performed a sex act on him she told him she needed to buy a drink from Asda and he drove her to the store, but once inside she told two policemen about her ordeal.

Mr Simkin said that Aziz’s DNA was found to link him to the rape of an 18-year-old prostitute in 2004.

The teenager had arranged to buy heroin from Aziz, who was known as Rocky, outside the Oasis nightclub in Daubhill.

But after she got into a car with him and two other men he refused to let her out, driving around while he did drug deals in the Deane area.

Eventually, in Chorley New Road, he pulled her out of the car by her hair and offered her drugs in return for sex. He then forced her to perform a sex act on him and raped her.

The trial continues.
