MORE than 70 firefighters were at J Dickinson and Sons, in Station Road, Blackrod, at the height of the incident.
They have been at the scene throughout the night and have managed to stop the fire spreading beyond the building where it started.
A warehouse on the site went up in flames shortly before 8pm.
This morning five fire engines remain at the plant, attempting to extinguish the flames.
A huge plume of smoke can still be seen billowing across Bolton.
Crowds of people gathered on the streets and drivers pulled over in their cars last night to watch the drama unfold. The cause of
the fire has not yet been established and an investigation is under way.
