PRIME Minister Gordon Brown has been guilty of dithering over income tax policy, one Bolton MP has admitted.

Bolton South-east MP Dr Brian Iddon accepted Mr Brown's decision to scrap the 10p tax rate and his subsequent lack of clarity on extra support for low-income earners had cost Labour dearly in the local elections.

But he also defended the Prime Minister, saying his policies were right and that he should be given time to win voters over.

Dr Iddon said: "Gordon Brown's been dithering on the 10p tax rate and I think he's given the public the general view now that he's indecisive.

"The Prime Minister realises his errors and has told the Parliamentary Labour Party that he's going to improve."

But he insisted Mr Brown should not resign.

"First of all it would be foolish politically. Let's not forget that he was regarded before recent events as the best chancellor Britain's ever had.

"Give him a chance, I say.

"We've only had him in just under a year. And the policies overall are right - 55 per cent of British people benefited from the budget."

He said Mr Brown's style contrasted with the young and charismatic but "shallow" Conservative leader David Cameron.

The trouble with this Government is that they have made many decisions without thinking of the consequences. The 10p tax is only one of them.

If thats the only reason MP Dr Brian Iddon thinks Labour lost so many votes, he is a long long way from reality.

It's a pity Iddon wasn't more vocal sooner, instead of waiting until he had decided to leave the gravy train at the next election.

Another decision without thought, announced today.
Re-classification of cannibis. Are ALL users going to be locked up for five years and if so where are they going to be put.
Unlike many MPs, I have never tried cannibis and disagree with it's use.

Home Secretary Jackie Spliff made the announcement in the commons today.

(a) Only by Blair and his toadies like you.

(b) Remind me. What's his current position?

Mr Iddon said.
"She (Ms Smith) has done it for political reasons to send a strong signal, but the actual use of cannabis was going down. I think what she has done is pointless."

The number of smokers was also going down before the smoking ban and that decline has stopped.
I wonder if the reclassification will do the same with cannibis.

How long does it take to discover an obvious fraud?

We could have been a wealthy nation had it not been for this fraud of a non elected Prime Minister. The billions upon billions wasted make Robert Maxwell look a sweetheart.

I'll wager a bet there's a lot of Labour Ministers miffed at this decision.
