A ROBBER repeatedly bit a man on the hand to make him let go of his mobile phone.

The 43-year-old victim was attacked near to the Black Horse pub in Bury Road, Tonge Fold, on Saturday at around 10.30pm.

The victim, from Tonge Moor, was approached by a gang of around five teenage boys, who were with some girls.

One of them demanded that he give them his mobile phone.

The man refused and his attacked bit him repeatedly on the hand when he would not give up his phone.

He was dragged to the floor and the gang stole his phone.

A 17-year-old boy from Tonge Moor was arrested on Wednesday on suspicion of robbery and bailed pending further inquiries.

A police spokesman said the victim was treated at hospital but that his injuries were not serious.

Officers are now working on a number of leads which they hope will lead them to the rest of the group.
