THE University of Bolton is establishing a new campus - 3,000 miles away in the Middle East.
Bosses have been given the go-ahead to open a "college" in the United Arab Emirates.
The new campus will strengthen the former institute's international links. It already has a presence in Malaysia, Hong Kong and Vietnam.

Deputy Vice Chancellor Dr Peter Marsh said: "This new campus is part of our international strategy to establish hubs in what is now a global market for higher education.
"A campus in this part of the world will cater for a growing ex-patriot community together with students from across Asia and Africa. It will make education more accessible."
The £1 million university campus will accommodate around 150 students when it opens in Ras al Khaimah, just 45 minutes from Dubai. It will offer undergraduate and post-graduate courses in the built environment, engineering, business, IT and art and design from September this year.
The programmes will be directly equivalent to those provided for students at Bolton and will share the same exam boards, quality monitoring process and external verification.
The Arabian campus will open in September and charge students local tuition fees which are cheaper than what they would pay if studying in Britain.
Dr Marsh said the courses would be extended in the coming years and student numbers would increase to around 700 within five years.
The deputy vice-chancellor said staff and students studying in Bolton would benefit from exchange visits.
He said: "A lot of interest is being generated already in the colleges in the United Arab Emirates and some British students seem to think that they will travel over in September, but it might be a bit soon for that."
