SPEED limits could be slashed on the roads surrounding a school in a bid to improve safety for youngsters.
Motorists will be limited to 20mph if the measures are introduced outside Gaskell Primary School in Thomas Holden Street, Bolton.
The plan also includes speed humps, which highways chiefs hope will stop the area being used as a rat-run.
Cllr Nick Peel, Bolton Council's executive member for environment, said: "This is the latest area in which the council is bringing a 20mph zone to reduce car speed and accidents as a result of that.
"This area has scored highly on the number of accidents. There is an increased risk because of the number of children who are around near the school.
"These are narrow terraced streets and there is not a lot of reaction time."

Cllr Peel said consultation in the area showed that 78 per cent of people supported the idea.
The roads that could be affected are currently 30mph zones. They roads are: Snowden Street, Thomas Holden Street, Hemsworth Road, Westworth Close, Southwell Close, Wentbridge Road, Back Crescent Avenue, Back Gaskell Street East, Back John Brown Street and Crescent Avenue.
Last December, concerned residents contacted the council because nearby Arrow Street was being used by drug dealers.
The council also wants to stop traffic from driving down Arrow Street and is considering installing gates to block it off completely.
A decision will be made at a future meeting of the highways committee.
