THIS is the man police believe carried out a serious attack on a woman in Bolton four years ago.

Failed asylum seeker Kazim Raisull, aged 22, was arrested in Wigan last year in connection with a minor offence.

But a DNA sample taken at the time was later matched to one taken after an attack in 2004.

Det Con Randolph Lyle, of Bolton CID, said: "If you know this man, turn him in."

A 26-year-old woman was subjected to a terrifying assault in a white car - possibly a Toyota Corolla - as it was parked in Kestor Street, Bolton, between 1.20am and 1.40am, on February 3, 2004.

Detectives launched an inquiry, but were unable to track down the attacker.

On July 22 last year, Raisull was arrested outside the Jumping Jacks bar in King Street, Wigan, on a public order offence.

He was interviewed by police, photographed and a sample of his DNA was taken.

Raisull was released without charge and has not been seen since.

But his DNA sample was placed on the nationwide database and it was later found to match that of the attacker in Bolton.

Now police have released this picture in a bid to track him down. Det Con Lyle said: "Despite numerous attempts to locate and arrest the attacker who subjected this lone woman to a serious assault in 2004, our efforts proved fruitless.

"However, in July last year, Kazim Raisull was arrested in Wigan for a minor public order offence through which he has been linked forensically to this attack. I would urge him to turn himself in and I ask that anybody who has any information about him to get in touch with us."

Raisull, originally from Kurdistan, has links to Bolton, Wigan and Warrington.

He could be dangerous and police have urged members of the public who see him or who know of his whereabouts not to approach him but to contact them as soon as possible.
