UNIVERSITY pals Asif Timol and Salman Bariwala have teamed up to launch an old-style coffee shop, delicatessen and dessert parlour in the heart of Bolton’s student land.

The duo have opened RoomForDessert in Deane Road — right on the doorstep of Bolton College and the University of Bolton and are serving cream cakes, an exclusive range of ice cream, milk shakes and hot waffles.

They will also specialise in espresso coffee, pasta bakes and a selection of salads.

Mr Timol said the plan was to open at 7.30am until late in the evening.

But he said there are no plans to compete with local shisha bars in the area.

“We want a more relaxed environment than can be found in shisha bars,” said 35-year-old Mr Timol, a law graduate from Liverpool University, who is also a practising solicitor. Salman, who is a graduate in genetics, and I became friends at university and we always dreamed of running our own business.”

But the inspiration for the new cafe bar came Asif’s Bolton-born optician wife Zainab, who loves baking and often makes products for Asian weddings.

“Zainab is the creative director and is at the heart of everything we do,” said Mr Timol.
