A BOLTON-based construction industry training provider is warning firms not to risk damaging their businesses by overlooking health and safety training for workers.

Bromak says it has timed its call now because employment in the sector is rising as the recovery gathers pace.

The firm, whose head office is the Atria complex in Spa Road, has secured accreditation from the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) to deliver courses in working, managing, and directing safety.

Bromak says recruits are three times more likely to be injured at work than employees who have been with a company for a year or more.

In addition, a number of recent HSE inquiries have highlighted the importance of health and safety training at management level.

Mathew Bewley, director of training for Bromak, said: “While the recovery is positive news, it means we’re seeing greater numbers of new and inexperienced staff on site who need to be aware of all health and safety risks for their role.

“As work increases, it’s important to bring home to all staff just why health and safety is such an essential part of the job.

“As a training provider, we felt it was essential that we were able to offer accredited health and safety training to remain at the top of our game.

“Three courses focus on changing behaviour to increase the wellbeing of staff at all levels.”

The IOSH courses cover health and safety topics, risk assessments and environmental considerations.

Bromak has already delivered courses to Liverpool Mutual Homes and delivered “Managing Safely” training to utility specialists PN Daily. The firm is a specialist built environment recruitment and training consultancy with offices in Watford, Liverpool, Sheffield, Durham and Lichfield.
