A FIRM of chartered financial planners has expanded into new offices with room to grow.

Chancellor Financial Management has relocated from Chorley New Road across town to new offices next to the Swedish bank Handlesbanken at the Courtyard in Calvin Street.

There are 12 employees in the new open-plan facility, but directors Grant Farnell and John Smallridge and senior consultants David Heaton and Dave Torkington are aiming to expand.

“We couldn’t fit another filing cabinet in our Chorley New Road office,” said 46-year-old Yorkshire-man Mr Farnell. “Moving here has given us breathing space and scope to grow.”

Chancellor specialises in advising people who own businesses who want to sell, trusts and charities, and has been operating along the M62 corridor since it was launched eight years ago.

“We are in the market for dealing with owner-managed businesses and directors of owner-managed businesses and their families,” said Mr Farnell. “They make up 95 per cent of our clients.

“A lot of our clients have been through the trauma of recessions, but they have been successful. What we do is about planning the right way ahead for them.

“But our planning doesn’t stop there — it’s about finding the best way to safeguard their money.”

Referrals generally come by word of mouth — either business connections or a stockbroker, or the family and existing clients.

Chancellor has taken a couple of extra staff on within the last 12 months, but Mr Farnell said he was in no hurry.

“We want to grow, but we intend to do so organically,” he added.

In addition to offering help to businesses, trusts and charities, Mr Torkington specialises in pensions (auto enrolment) and employee benefits.
