BUSINESS is booming for home brewed beer and wine making specialist Spitting Feathers.

The firm, in Tonge Moor Road, Bolton, has become the “go to” location for people aiming to save money on their favourite tipple by making it themselves.

Father-and-son owners Steve and Rishi Kukadia relocated to a larger shop at 200 Tonge Moor Road — from next door — to accommodate their expanding stock.

Mr Kukadia, a former pupil of Sharples High School, said: “We specialise in all aspects of beer and wine making.

“We are always getting new customers because people want to save money — and there are big savings to be made if you make your own beer and wine.”

The 50-year-old reckons a pint of high-quality, home-brewed beer ranges in cost between 28p and 69p per pint.

Former bus driver Mr Kukadia started Spitting Feathers six years ago and, four years later, he opened a second outlet in Wigan, which is still going strong.

He said: “I had been making my own wine for years and I eventually had an off-licence before this.

“We don’t just sell the equipment. We will teach people how to make home brewed beer and wine.

“We love chatting to our customers and helping them with advice.”

Mr Kukadia says customers can make 30 bottles of quality red wine with a kit which costs £120.

He added: “We are trying to bring brewing into the 21st century. It’s not like the old days and the stereotypical image of home brewing. You really can make very good wine and beer and save an absolute fortune.”
