STAFF at a Bolton-based firm raised nearly £4,000 for the annual Jeans for Genes Day.
Workers at JOST UK Ltd in Nelson Street sold various items and took part in activities such as an ice bucket challenge and a pub quiz.
The activities were in aid of Genetic Disorders UK, a charity aimed at improving the lives of individuals and families affected by genetic disorders.
The firm, formerly known as Edbro House, decided to host the event as one of its employees has two sons who are affected by genetic disorders.
A grand total of £3979.50 was raised from the day.
Jenny Vadasz-More, a financial accountant for the firm, said: “The whole day was a massive success — it went down really, really well. There was a real team spirit on the day.
“It didn’t matter what level people were working at, everybody contributed in their own way.
“We had originally aimed to raise £1,000 so to get nearly four times that amount was absolutely amazing.
“Genetic Disorders UK will benefit a lot from the money we’ve raised.”
The ice bucket challenge alone raised £700, while Barclays Bank donated £1,000 towards the event.
There were also donations from Bolton One, DW Fitness Gym, the American manufacturer PTC Alliance and the European engineering firm Ovako among others.
