A LAW firm based in Bolton has been shortlisted for four prestigious legal industry awards.

Keoghs, a provider of claims-related services to the insurance sector, has been nominated for the gongs in this year’s Personal Injury (PI) Awards.

The Parklands headquartered company is no stranger to success, having won three awards in last year’s PI Awards.

Partner Neil Southern has been shortlisted for the Outstanding Case of the Year and solicitor Katie Rose is in line for Young Achiever of the Year. Both Mr Southern and Ms Rose are based in Bolton.

The firm’s Noise Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL) pre-litigation team, based across offices in both Bolton and Coventry, has been shortlisted for Team of the Year, the fourth time in five years Keoghs has made the final (winning in 2009, 2011 and 2013).

Having won the title in the past two years, Keoghs is again represented in the Defendant Personal Injury Lawyer of the Year category, where Fiona Murphy — who has only been with the firm since 2010 — has been nominated after a year in which her efforts as a “Fraud Rings Champion” helped save Keoghs’ clients more than £2 million in “crash for cash” scams.

“We are again delighted that our disease and complex injury teams have been recognised in three different categories,” said director of technical claims, Gary Fitzpatrick.

“It is an indication of the significant progress they have made in a number of areas; whether taking on and leading important case strategies for our clients, as Neil does, or minimising client costs and indemnity spend which is the NIHL team’s overall strategy.

"We feel that these areas of our business are beyond compare nationally, as well as regionally.

“I am particularly pleased that one of our young solicitors, Katie, has also been shortlisted. We take training and development of our staff very seriously.

"Her selection underlines our approach and determination to train and retain our best staff so they can expand their knowledge and expertise and so advance within the firm.”

Director of Fraud Rings, Ruth Needham, meanwhile, hailed the achievements of Ms Murphy.

She said: “Fiona’s nomination is not only testament to the fantastic work she has achieved over the course of the past year, most notably two large operations that were highly complex and involved serious organised crime, but also the fraud rings team as a whole, who saved our clients a staggering £42 million last year alone.”

The winners of the Personal Injury Awards will be announced at a gala dinner at The Grange, St Pauls, London, on Wednesday, November 12.
