BAKERY giant Warburtons has donated £10,000 to local organisation Raise the Youth Foundation to help it tackle unemployment across Bolton.

The “Lifestyle College” project will identify and work with vulnerable young people in Bolton to assess their needs and take them through a behaviour change, personal develop-ment and vocational training programme which results in finding employment.

Participants will gain nationally accredited personal and social development qualifications and undertake work experience.

Support continues before, during and after the job search to ensure that they maintain their employment and positive lifestyle – even when they have an income.

Organisers say the project takes a unique, holistic approach to individuals’ development and, over a 12-month period, is expected to make a life-changing difference to 20 individuals and their families.

“It is important for us, as a family business, to provide real and meaningful support to families in our communities,” said Warburtons executive director, Brett Warburton.

“We believe that the programme that has been developed by the Raise the Youth will make a huge impact.”

Chief executive of Raise the Youth Foundation, Jason Steele, said: “This amazing donation from Warburtons has enabled Raise the Youth to make a real difference to many young people’s lives and raise their aspirations.

“We have been able to make an investment in resources, staffing and activities and improve the lives of children and young people in Bolton by supporting them in skills such as reading and writing, numeracy, skills for work and further education.”

The partnership with Raise the Youth Foundation is part of Warburtons’ national Families Matter programme, which focuses on supporting families in local communities across Britain.
