A LAW firm specialising in serious injury cases is celebrating after receiving a Special Recognition Award from Back Up, the spinal cord injury charity, for its support of the organisation's mentoring programme.

The programme matches people with a spinal cord injury with mentors who have been through similar experiences.

Back Up mentoring extends beyond the person injured to include their parents, partner or siblings, all of whom may be struggling to adjust in different ways.

The award has been won by Serious Law in Chorley Street, Bolton, whose senior partner John Sherrington said: “Having worked in serious injury for 25 years, we know that a spinal cord injury can have a devastating impact, not just on the person with the injury, but also on their family.

"Back Up’s mentoring programme offers a chance to link up with a mentor who has ‘been there and done that’ and can provide practical advice and support.

"Serious Law is proud to be supporting such a worthwhile programme which makes a genuine difference to helping many seriously injured people to transform their lives.”

Back Up’s Chief Executive, Louise Wright said: “Serious Law’s commitment to our mentoring programme has ensured that we have been able to help many more people coming to terms with a life-changing injury.

"We have had an excellent relationship with the team over the past six years and this award aims to recognise the impact of their support.”
