A DECORATOR from Bolton proved a brush above the rest as he won a national competition which recognises the top workers in his trade.

Mark Rigby, is celebrating has been named Dulux Trade Ultimate Professional Decorator 2014, ahead of nine other finalists.

Mr Rigby, aged 49, of Horwich, received the accolade following the paint manufacturer’s nationwide search to find the Ultimate Professionals.

The competition called for homeowners across the UK to nominate decorators who exemplify excellent service and consistently deliver high quality, professional workmanship, while going above and beyond.

Mr Rigby, owner of his own company MRQD Contracting, was selected as the Ultimate Professional Decorator 2014 due to his commitment to the role, and his level of enthusiasm for regular training.

Mr Rigby, who has more than thirty years' experience in the decorating trade, said: “This award is a massive achievement for me. I'm really proud to know that I'm so appreciated by my customers - I don't do advertising, so all my publicity comes from word of mouth. As a self-employed decorator, how your professionalism comes across is crucial to securing new job opportunities."

Mr Rigby’s customers praised him for always going the extra mile, including working additional hours and helping with household repairs.
