BOLTON Market's Lifestyle Hall should be renamed "The Bolton Quarter" to celebrate the international flavour of the venue, according to one stallholder.

The popular area boasts a range of food and drink outlets from different countries and cultures and Zubada Lee believes this should be acknowledged.

Mrs Lee runs the Jazac Foods stall with her husband John, which offers customers the chance to enjoy traditional Bangladeshi street foods.

She said: "I have launched a petition to re-name the Lifestyle Hall as The Bolton Quarter. This is in a bid to recognise all the different international elements to the venue."

The hall opened earlier this year following a £4.5 million transformation and is now home to international venue's such as Milano Pizza and the ever popular Cameroonian venture Nkono, which is run by well-known character Alain Job.

Adding to the multi-national tapestry is Australian Steve Simms, who runs the Great Ale Year Round bar in the Lifestyle Hall.

Bolton's Council leader Cliff Morris enjoyed the international flavours offered at Jazac when he officially opened the stall.

Cllr Morris was on hand to cut the ribbon and sample some of the exotic treats on offer as part of a 10-course banquet, which included rare dishes like Shark and Bangladeshi Wedding Goat.

The council leader said he enjoyed sampling the different food on offer and welcomed the business to the market.

He added: “They have a really nice mix of food at Jazac and it ranges in terms of spice so that caters for a lot of different people, it was very nice and pretty interesting too.

“We want to promote small businesses like this to set up in the market; you never know where they may end up.”

Zubada said the launch event went down really well with customers, adding: “The feedback was brilliant. One customer asked if they could pre-book for the next event, which is a great sign.

“The atmosphere was very upbeat and for a bit of fun we asked the diners to guess the name of each course.

She said a preview of the event published in The Bolton News inspired a host of new customers to come along and is offering anyone who comes to the stall with the article a £1 discount on their meal.

Anyone interested in signing Mrs Lee's petition can do so at the Jazac stall.
