TWENTY-six local businessmen and women are in training for an “Out of This World Cycle” ride from Geneva to Nice in six days to raise cash for Bolton Lads and Girls Club (BLGC).

The group will cycle the Col du Madeleine, Alp D'huez, Galibier, Telegraph and climb over the Col du Bonnette, the highest ever summit finish and highlight of the Tour de France 2015 at 9,000 ft.

The total ascent is higher than climbing out of the earth’s atmosphere at more than 50,000 ft, hence the name of the challenge.

Riders are benefiting from Team BG coaching support at the Manchester Velodrome headquarters.

The aim is to raise £25,000 for BLGC and its Hub and Spoke Project. The club currently has a membership of 7,500 young people but wants to continue to support more children and young people across outlying areas who struggle to take advantage of the club’s services because of difficult travel.

The objective of Hub and Spoke e is to create a network of satellite centres in the suburbs and a transport system to pick up and drop off young people.
