AN MP has praised staff at an Atherton branch of Subway.

Bolton West MP Julie Hilling paid a visit to the sandwich store in her constituency to have a discussion about their business model.

Ms Hilling joined one of Subway’s development agents Damien Bennett, Atherton’s franchisee Bhupinder Bansal and other members of staff at the store.

Subway’s business team and staff had the opportunity to discuss issues before the general election and their concerns over VAT and legal battles over hot food products.

Ms Hilling said: “It was great to meet such wonderful staff at our local Subway. It was great to meet Ellie Thompson who has recently joined the Subway team and tells me she is enjoying the job and fitting it around her studies.

“It was useful to meet Damien Bennett and Bhupinder Bansal who clearly work very hard to provide their customers with a friendly and efficient service.

“I know from just driving past the shop regularly that the business is always full of customers.”

“Only the Labour party and Ed Miliband have the policies that will help businesses and small franchises like Subway.

“With our pledge to cut business rates for small businesses and help with costs by capping energy prices we are the party that will ensure both employees and employers get a fair deal after the general election.”
