A BOLTON based IT solutions firm has come to the aid of a 10-year-old girl who needed a new specially adapted wheelchair.

Staff at Imerja heard about the plight of Madison Brooks from Market Harborough, Leicester, and decided to help.

Madison suffers from a rare neuromuscular condition, congenital myasthenia gravis, which leaves her with weak muscles, fatigue and difficulty when breathing.

She is reliant on a specially adapted wheelchair to remain mobile, but has outgrown her original chair which is no longer fit for purpose, as it is unable to accommodate the ventilator and array of emergency equipment she needs with her constantly.

Madison's family launched an appeal to help raise funds to pay for a new wheelchair, with no public money or charity funding available to help fund a replacement.

Imerja, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary as a company, decided to make a charitable donation to celebrate the milestone.

The firm, which has its headquarters at Paragon Business Park, also has an office in Madison's hometown.

Mark Evans, commercial director at Imerja said: “We heard about Madi’s appeal on the local radio and, having thought about how much of a difference £10,000 could make, we quickly decided to donate the anniversary fund to her.

“With this money we hope Madi will be able to buy the wheelchair she needs and enjoy some of the things on her ‘wish list’ with her family. We are really pleased to be able to help.”

Imerja is also supporting charitable causes such as Claire House Children’s Hospice in the Wirral, and the Northampton Trustee Fund, which funds education and healthcare projects in the village of Penyem in Gambia.

The firm, which delivers technical, engineering, professional and support services, said it is currently enjoying a record period of growth with trading results for the first half of the year up more than 60 per cent, and on track to exceed £9m by the end of the current 2014-2015 financial year.
