THE boss of a leading recruitment firm said he was thrilled to pick up an award for its work with apprentices.

David Brooks established Spa Road based Bromak Recruitment in 2003, after working in the industry for a number of years.

Over the past 12 years the firm has grown and become a leading recruitment company which supplies office and site staff to the construction industry.

Bromak firm supplies staff at all levels – from trades and labour to company directors – into some of the country’s best known private and public sector organisations.

Mr Brooks said he did not expect to receive the award, which was in the best company for apprentice development category.

He said: “It was a big surprise to be honest, some of the other nominees were more traditional apprenticeship type industries, such as manufacturing and engineering.

“We are an office based business, so we weren’t expecting to win it but we are thrilled.

“I believe in apprenticeships, it is a big part of our business.”

Bromak currently has three apprentices across its operations, and previous apprentices have gone on to hold successful positions within the business.

Each apprentice is given a tailored training and development programme to reflect their role within the company.

As well as its Spa Road head office, Bromak has four other offices in Watford, Sheffield, Lichfield and Liverpool, and it also has a presence in the North East.

The gong at the Bolton and Bury Business Awards was not the first recognition it has received, after previously being given the Investors in People Silver Award for dedicating itself to the training and development of staff.

As well as running Bromak, Mr Brooks also owns sister company 3B Training with Justine Brooks and Matthew Bewley.
