ONE of the smallest and cutest guests at the awards who made a brief appearance was Eve, the University of Bolton’s robot.
She was introduced to the dancefloor by her “mentor” Dr Zubair Hanslot, the University Provost and also chief executive of the newly opened University Technical College.
And while Eve entertained the guests with her Gangam dance, and her reluctance to at first obey Dr Hanslot’s instructions, she had a serious message.
Dr Hanslot, resplendent in the new UTC blazer, spoke of how the robot was at the forefront of technology at the University and the UTC.
The school, which opened its doors to its first 270 pupils earlier this month, specialises in health sciences and engineering technologies It is a new idea in education, developed in response to the needs of industry.
The students will benefit from the university facilities, the lecturers and specialists who work there. It is the culmination of two years work by Dr Hanslot and his team.
