A NEW firm set up by a Bolton businessman will exhibit at a prestigious event just months after being set up.

Bolton-based Bloomingdeals is the brainchild of Lee Parker, CEO of Parker Sourcing Ltd in Heaton and Hiring Made Simple, and his business partner Ben Wadeson.

They set up the firm online in September after finding that many gardeners were often being let down by the quality of the produce obtainable from traditional suppliers.

In a bid to combat the problem, the firm has decided to cut out the middle-man by dispatching the produce to the customers directly from source.

Now the company has been chosen as an 'Official Alpha Startup company' to exhibit at the prestigious Web Summit 2015, which is held in Dublin in November.

The event has grown from strength to strength and includes appearances from business leaders representing industry giants such as Google, Microsoft and Facebook.

Start ups in previous years have gone on to be very successful include Uber and Vine.

This year more than 30,000 people interested in new ideas to change our daily lives will meet and learn from the people who are already shaping the future of the world

At the event each startup is allocated a stand on one of the three Summit days, from which they must try to capture the attention of investors, mentors and the media in as original and creative a way as possible.

Mr Parker said: "We’re so excited to have been given this opportunity to showcase our business and meet with leading figures from companies such as Google, and Stripe our main payment platform. This is an opportunity of a lifetime and we’re proud to have been selected from thousands of applicants."

Mr Parker says his and Mr Wadeson's experience in the gardening industry and in business gave them the skills to turn their idea into a venture.

They looked at current and traditional retail channels in the horticultural industry, and analysing the benefits and restrictions of these methods, they developed and refined their business model.

The firm says that by offering larger minimum order quantities, it has been able to negotiate competitive prices which are passed directly on to their customers.

It hopes that the exposure gained at the web summit this will give them the boost to expand their market throughout Europe.

Future plans include an online community platform, accessible by both producers and gardeners and an expansion of the product ranges offered.

Mr Parker was previously named as one of twenty entrepreneurs around the UK to become a Small Business Saturday champion for 2015.

His firm Parker Sourcing is one of the UK’s leading technical and construction recruitment companies offering engineering and construction recruitment solutions throughout the UK and Europe.
