DETECTIVES have launched an investigation and arrested an 18-year-old on suspicion of manslaughter after a man died following reports of a disturbance.
Police were called to Burnham Walk in Farnworth, shortly before 2am today.
They found a 43-year-old man who was barely conscious. The man was taken to hospital where he later died.
A Home Office post mortem examination is due to take place and police say they are investigating the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.
An 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter this afternoon and has been taken into police custody for questioning.
Detective Chief Inspector Sarah Jones of the Major Incident Team said: “We are investigating the circumstances surrounding this man’s death and are making enquiries to establish what exactly took place during this disturbance.
“The man’s family are being supported by our specialist officers at this very difficult time and we are keeping them fully up to date with our investigation.
“We are appealing for anyone who saw or heard anything that they think could assist police with our enquiries to contact us.”
