A BOLTON firm of solicitors has expanded after completing a merger deal.

KBL Solicitors LLP has agreed to merge with Blackburn based Garricks LLP, in a move which was finalised on April 1.

Bosses say the agreement will boost KBL's commercial offering, also with the arrival of Greg Gardner-Boyes who will now divide his time between KBL’s Mawdsley Street offices and Cunningham Court, Blackburn, where Garricks was based.

Mr Gardner-Boyes brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the practice, with a strong commercial background and many years experience.

Michael Slater, partner and head of commercial litigation at KBL said: “The merger is a great opportunity for both firms and our clients alike.

"There is an excellent fit between the two firms, our shared ethos and values mean that together we can provide strong continuity of no-nonsense professional advice for Garricks’ clients and we will continue to deliver the first class service for which we are renowned.

"Our office is based in the heart of Bolton and we look forward to welcoming Greg’s clients to the firm.

"We have an established regional presence and given the commercial expertise that we already have, it is the natural place for Greg and his clients to be.”

Mr Gardner-Boyes said: “I have worked with KBL on several occasions over the last few years.

"When Michael and I spoke about commercial legal practices it became clear that I shared his and his partners values and ethos.

"I am certain my clients will enjoy the same level of service and importantly expertise they’ve enjoyed whilst working with Garricks."

KBL recently celebrated its 30th year of business, and staff toasted the landmark at a glitzy drinks reception at Bolton Art Gallery.

The company was originally set up by Stephen Lewis as Lewis & Co from its current premises in 1971.

Then as a result of a merger with Kippax Beaumont in 1985, run by Martin Kippax and Mike Beaumont, Kippax Beaumont Lewis was formed.

The firm, which is now commonly known as KBL, has since gone strength to strength and employs almost 40 staff.

KBL is a Legal 500 recommended law firm with an extensive range of corporate and individual clients throughout the North West.

It houses dedicated specialist teams offering legal advice to both commercial and private clients in property, litigation, employment, corporate and commercial, family law, personal injury and wills and probate.
