A HORWICH company is re-branding and extending its scope to reflect the current property market.

Amity Conveyancing on Lee Lane has become Amity Law because, as Managing Director Jayne Hart explained: “We want people to understand exactly what we do, and we want to branch out into commercial property and possibly other areas as well.”

Ms Hart, a Licensed Conveyancer with more than 20 years’ experience in property law, founded Amity – meaning “friendship” – in 2005. The company acts for individuals, investors and mortgage companies in legal transactions relating to residential property.

It has not always been an easy path, however.. “When the recession hit, I had to close the two offices we had and make staff redundant which was awful,” stated Ms Hart.

She continued the business on her own, managing to pay off her debts and re-build it. Today, she has a staff of 10, including three qualified lawyers, and has established Amity’s reputation as a reliable and accessible firm.

“We are a modern company using all the latest technology to help our clients,” she added. “We work together as a team to complete transactions within our clients’ timescales and genuinely try to reduce the stress of moving house.”

Ms Hart said that expanding into commercial property was a “natural progression” for Amity. “We regularly get asked about areas like shop leases,” she said. “We have the professional expertise here and I think the time is right to expand Amity further.

“When people buy, sell or re-mortgage their homes they need to use a property lawyer to deal with the transfer of ownership legally by deed. Mortgage companies also require a property lawyer to deal with the mortgage paperwork on behalf of themselves and clients.

“This is something in which we are experts and we’re always happy to explain the procedures simply, and ensure a transaction goes through as quickly as possible.

“Our clients seem to appreciate what we do and we have plenty of testimonials. Now, we hope to get even more satisfied clients in commercial property transactions. We’re also looking at other areas where we can help the public.”
