A YOUNG student who started as a waitress at Bolton based the Chinese Buffet is now helping to spread the word about the business.

May Tran who is originally from Vietnam, was a foreign student studying a Masters Degree in Marketing Communications at the University of Huddersfield.

Like many students, she needed a part time job to support her though her studies.

After applying for several jobs she eventually found herself working as a waitress at The Chinese Buffet in Huddersfield.

And while she proved a popular addition to the restaurant, her ambition was still to pursue a career in PR and Marketing.

Shortly after graduating, an opportunity arose to apply for the role of public relations officer for The Chinese Buffet at their head office in Bolton.

May jumped at the opportunity and was appointed as the group’s PR officer in March this year.

She said “I feel very lucky that I have got a job in my chosen career path so soon after graduating. It is great that I can continue working for The Chinese Buffet.”

Managing Director, Paolo Hu said “We are delighted with May’s job performance since her appointment. She is naturally very good with people and this is very important for this role. At The Chinese Buffet, where possible we always try to promote staff from within.”

May plans events, writes press releases, deals with public enquiries and also manages The Chinese Buffet social media on a daily basis, including their Facebook page that has over 120,000 likes.

The Chinese Buffet which started in Bolton, is about to open its eleventh restaurant in Speke before Christmas.
