A BOLTON business leader has shared her concerns about the town’s transport system with key figures from across the North.
Holly Bonfield, Federation of Small Businesses Manchester’s national councillor, told last week’s transport summit in Leeds that more needs to be done to improve services in the region.
She said: “It’s all well and good having a high speed train system that would be capable of taking people between Manchester and Leeds in under 30 minutes, but if it takes you an hour to get to your local train station because the local roads are clogged, or there’s no integrated bus service to get you to the station on time for your train, what’s the point?
“I live in Bolton and frequently travel to Liverpool by train.
“If I want to get there for 8am the rail enquiries system tells me I have to leave the day before.
“That’s simply not good enough and means I have to go by car.”
