CHARTERED accountants Cowgill Holloway are firmly in the corner of a Farnworth boxer.

The Bolton-based accountants is sponsoring Jack Flatley as he enters his third year as a professional, aiming eventually to challenge for the English title.

Stuart Stead, a partner at the firm who trains at the same gym as Jack, said he was impressed by his ability and dedication and pledged the firm’s support.

Jack’s next fight takes place on November 13 at the Hilton Hotel in London, when he goes up against Welsh Alex Hughes with the fight will be broadcast on Boxnation.

The 22-year old middleweight boxer — to date undefeated — is trained by Alex Matvienko at Halliwell’s Elite gym. Mr Matvienko recently called on the local community in Bolton to throw its support behind talented Jack.

Mr Stead said: 2Seeing Jack’s dedication and commitment to his sport was hugely impressive — and it’s fantastic for Bolton to have such a talented up-and-coming young boxer. At Cowgill Holloway we’re hugely proud of our heritage having been based in Bolton since the firm was established, and we’re glad to be able to support Jack in concentrating on his training and taking his career to the next level. It’s a hugely exciting time for him; he’s definitely one to watch.

“With Jack’s next fight taking place in just over a week, it would be great to see the people of Bolton getting behind him — that kind of support would be a very powerful thing and I’m sure it would mean a lot to Jack.”

Jack said: “At the moment, I’m in the gym twice a day working hard and hope this time next year to be challenging for the English title — the sponsorship means that I can continue to concentrate on training and being the best I can be. My next fight will be a tough one – Alex is 10 fights undefeated – but I’m determined to do my team, my sponsors, and Bolton, proud.”

Mr Matvienko added: “Sponsorship is crucial in allowing athletes like Jack to continue to focus on training. It’s great to see businesses like Cowgill Holloway investing in local talent; it shows a real commitment to the community and to our rising stars. I’ve said it before, but the everyone in Bolton should be getting behind Jack showing their support — he has massive potential and will do us proud.” Cerberus Group is also a sponsor, alongside Cowgill Holloway.
