THE boss of the company that has transformed the Market Place told how the retail sector would need to embrace change to survive in the future.
Tim Vaughan, chief executive of Moorgarth Group, said constant innovation and new ideas would be key, when he spoke at the regular Bolton professionals Curry Club business networking meeting at the Spice Valley restaurant in St George’s Road today. He said: “We must create an environment where the offer is not just about shopping. People demand much more than that now — they want somewhere to spend their leisure time, eating out and relaxing.” Mr Vaughan added: “The future of retail is about listening to what customers want and embracing that change. People want convenience. At Market Place we want to give them that, as well as being at the heart of the community. Footfall is up significantly. We must keep innovating to make sure we are up to the challenges we will face.”
