AMBITIOUS young visionaries are being invited to shape the future – literally.
Those interested in getting a foot in the door of Greater Manchester’s booming property sector can take part in a free week-long workshop next month.
The ‘Regeneration Brainery’ is an immersive workshop for 17-20-year-olds, aimed at setting young people from a range of backgrounds on a path to a career in the built environment.
Covering such subjects as development, architecture, planning, interior and exterior design, construction, communications, and property services, it matches young people with industry mentors.
It is the brainchild of Capital and Centric, the Manchester-based property developers behind plans to transform five of the city’s oldest industrial buildings into places to live and work.
Spokesman, Tim Heatley, said: “Regeneration shapes the places where we work, live and play, creating the cities and towns of the future. Yet, young people often don’t aspire for a career in the sector purely because they don’t know about how exciting it can be.”
The programme, which runs from 3rd to 7th April in central Manchester, will include visits to construction sites; interactive workshops; visits to workplaces of industry professionals; and practical skills to get ahead in the industry.
Mr Heatley said: “I really hope young people will join in. The industry needs new ideas and solutions from a whole range of backgrounds – it’s down to the next generation to get fired up about what can be achieved.”
