A HORWICH-based clothing business started by three friends last year has now taken off - allowing them to help a variety of charities.

The Monthly Tee Club was begun by Mark Walker, Richard Chebrika and Richard Hope from an office in Horwich and a fulfilment centre in Altrincham.

It has a unique t-shirt subscription box service which offers customised t-shirts to its subscribers based on their interests. As it has grown with customers all over the UK, it has also shared its profits in a practical way.

Explained Mark Walker: “While our prime focus is on delivering great t-shirts which people love, we also give back to those in need. Our #Tee4aTee Project means we donate an item for equal monetary value to a good cause for every full paid subscription.”

So far, this campaign has seen the company distributing t-shirts, warm clothing, food and drink to homeless people in Manchester and surrounding areas.

And this month, it raised money for the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital Charity as part of the Many Hands campaign which is supported by former Dragon’s Den entrepreneur Theo Paphitis.

This involves local businesses in a “race” to raise £1,000 in donations within six months – “something our recent growth and success has enabled us to do in just six weeks,” added Mark.

As a result, the trio were able to present a cheque for £1,254.50 to the Children’s Hospital.

“The support from our subscribers was overwhelming,” stated Mark. “All of us at The Monthly Tee Club are very grateful for the opportunity to be able to make this donation to such a great cause.

“In light of the anniversary of the Manchester Arena attack, we were more motivated than ever to give back to the hospital – just one of the many public services which did so much to help those in need during a very difficult time.”

Mark describes the company as “a very proud Bolton and Manchester business which wants to spread a positive message.” Plans for the future include growing the company “with a focus on raising money for other good causes, and making a difference.”
