A £750,000 project which has been developed at a Bolton farm is set to include its own micro-brewery.

The initial small-scale production facility at The Wellbeing Farm and called Edgworth Brew Company, was launched last Friday, during the nationally themed Beer Day Britain.

The idea for it to brew its own ales was developed following a conversation between the farm’s managing director Celia Gaze and Stephen Whitehead of Edgworth-based Whitehead Butchers

The beer is being produced from within the farm’s cookery school and will initially consist of a few barrels a week.

Celia explains: “The micro-brewery is initially launching with a blonde four per cent proof craft beer but will soon expand to a traditional best bitter and a craft IPA, primarily for events including weddings held at the venue, but eventually, we intend to make it more widely available.

“In the meantime, these beers can be personalised with a pump clip design and a special name to give happy couples an extra magical touch to their big day.”

Stephen added: “We’ve hired a local brewer with 15 years of experience and the recipes use English malt and hops.”

The farm is to host a wedding open day on Sunday July 8, from 2pm until 5pm, where beers will be available for tasting.
