AN innovative Bolton company is calling “time” on the traditional method of workplace clocking on and off.
U-Clock Ltd has launched a revolutionary new system to monitor and manage a “remote” workforce and benefit businesses which have staff scattered in various locations.
The firm, in Tonge Bridge Way, is confident the new clocking-on system will change the face of existing practices of monitoring workers and generate significant interest among small and medium-sized businesses.
Start-up company U-Clock, which was born out of Bolton-based Advanced Ventilation Ltd, said the new product utilises the latest in 21st century technology.
U-Clock is a simple digital box with a self-adhesive backing that can easily be installed at remote working sites. Employees record when they clock on and off via a free text message.
No bigger than a chocolate bar, U-Clock records details of a company’s employees checking in and out via an internet-based administration system. This allows head office to manage and monitor the workforce in real time.
Business development manager Keith Malone said: “At present, many companies find managing and monitoring their remote employees to be difficult, stressful and time-consuming, resulting in unnecessary expenditure and reduced profit.
“U-Clock is a unique system which generally makes life easier for firms involved in the construction and cleaning industries, as well as the security sectors. It’s also ideal for retail organisations who have staff in a number of outlets in various locations.”
He added: “We manufacture and supply it, and the idea of U-Clock was born in April of this year.
“We wanted to take it out to the market, so we initially tested it with the Advanced Ventilation workforce to ensure the software element stood up to other time monitoring systems in the marketplace. The field trials proved successful.
“Essentially, we’ve taken the clocking-on and off system into a modern age. U-Clock has no cables or wires.
“We’re now rolling the time-keeping system out across the UK and will be taking it to wholesalers and trade fairs.”
Mr Malone, who runs U-Clock with Jamie McCann and Les Borland, is genuinely enthusiastic.
He said: “As well as substantial cost savings, the system facilitates accurate recording of working hours and increases productivity and administrative efficiency.
“I’ve never been so excited by a new product.”
