Company helps put mind over matter

AFTER carving out successful careers in business and caring, two men have launched a new firm to empower people to live the lives they want to lead.

Philip Kelly and Geoff Huyton, qualified hypnotherapists with counselling skills, are harnessing their expertise to open MindMend in Bolton.

The hypnotherapy clinic is helping clients through stress relief; overcoming phobias, weight control and stopping smoking by embracing the power of their own minds.

Director-therapists Mr Huyton and Mr Kelly are proof that there is a truth in the old adage “it’s all in the mind.”

Mr Kelly said: “Don’t confuse hypnotherapy with hypnotism. We don’t put people into a trance to make them do anything they don’t want to.

“What we are able to do is help people re-programme their brain using hypnosis and by gently implanting suggestions to lead them to where they want to be.”

Mr Huyton added: “Stress, and the terrible depressing effects this can impose on a person, can often be relieved by helping them regain control of their mind instead of allowing their mind to govern them.

“Hypnotherapy is a well-researched and effective means of retraining the mind and it can help clients relax and enjoy life once again by improving self-confidence and self-esteem.”

MindMend says hypnotherapy can help people escape from the grip of phobias. With weight loss and smoking, hypnotherapy is also used to enable clients to control their food intake and to allow their brains to reject lighting up a cigarette.

Mr Kelly’s background is in ethical philosophy and he has also had a successful career in caring for and mentoring young people, especially juvenile offenders, addicts, the homeless and underachievers.

Mr Huyton is qualified in business management and mathematics. For the past 10 years he has owned a business consultancy and lectured in a number of universities.

Both have diplomas in hypnotherapy with counselling skills accredited by the Royal College of Nursing and the UK Hypnotherapy Society.
