PRIVATELY-owned vehicles are the number one form of transport used by businesses, according to new figures.

Dubbed the “grey fleet”, these vehicles are exposing UK employers to rising costs, safety issues and potential legal problems, according to Enterprise Rent-A-Car.

Its figures show that one in three workers use their own car for business purposes.

And 44 per cent of employers said private vehicles were the main form of transport used in their business.
