PARTNERS Brian Lawton and Ian Blackledge are all fired up by their new venture — a shop selling fire domestic extinguishers.

They operate Parr Fire Protection Services which has a recruitment arm and fire prevention arm and the company is celebrating having moved to bigger premises with a double shop front.

The new location in Tonge Moor Road, near Crompton Way, enables both businesses to have more space to promote what they do and was officially opened by the Mayor of Bolton Cllr Norman Critchley.

Director Brian Lawton said: “We are well known in the commercial sector for supplying fire extinguishers and organising fire training and fire risk assessments.

“But we are supplying fire extinguishers for domestic use which we feel is a growing sector of the market. It’s not law yet but I think in the future the Government will change the law and make it compulsory to have domestic fire protection.”

The shop will also sell a range of smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors alongside fire blankets and protective clothing. The Parr group has around 400 commercial clients including Bolton Wanderers Football Club and Newsquest, the parent company of The Bolton News, as well as other businesses across a range of sites around the country. The shop will serve both the general public and businesses and Mr Lawton said that they can also cater for taxi drivers who need fire extinguishers in their cabs, and can service them while they wait.
