Conservatory roof makers on a high

WHILE the recession has caused the housing market to contract one Bolton-based conservatory roof maker has expanded.

Tailored Systems Ltd (TSL) has bought one of its supplying companies, local firm Proactive Products, to turn itself into a “one stop shop”.

Formerly known as Tailored Roofing Systems the company is now called Tailored Systems Ltd, to take into account its new range of products which it believes will fuel future growth.

Bosses at TSL, in Lecturers Close, now feel the company is well placed to take advantage of the upturn at the end of the recession, following its acquisition of the Blackrod company.

Previously TSL supplied custom-made conservatory roofs to builders but now they are adapting its showroom to sell direct to the public.

After buying Proactive Supplies the company’s expanded sales potential means owners Peter Gray and Ian Martindale are looking to double turnover next year.

TSL now claims to be a market leader in vents, tie bars, acoustic flooring and other ancillary conservatory equipment since it bought out Proactive Supplies.

The company also produces many bespoke products, from injection moul- dings, fabricated items and powder coating to aluminium cast products.

Mr Gray, aged 35, said: “By expanding into the ancillary supplies market we expect to double turnover.

“There’s no doubt it’s been a difficult 12 to 18 months for the conservatory market but we are a well capitalised company with no debt.

“We now feel we are the total supply chain solution for the UK market.”

The company is also expanding into the retail market and having installed more than 40,000 roofs and conservatories believes it has strong credentials.
