A BOLTON company — or rather its product — is causing a storm on the silver screen after taking a star role in one of the most talked about films of the year.
The striking opening shot on All The Way Up, directed by acclaimed actor Sir David Jason, is courtesy of Umbrella World, who supplied the black umbrellas free of charge for the film.
Company director Rebecca Brayshaw said: “The producers wanted umbrellas and they approached the company to buy some within their budget.
“Once we got talking about the project and I heard David Jason was directing it, we were more than happy to supply the umbrellas for free.
“The winning line for me was who was directing it, I’m a huge fan.”
A total of 36 Umbrella World branded brollies were provided by the firm, which is based in Nortex Business Centre, Chorley Old Road.
All the Way Up, which tells the story of a bell boy, is the first film to be directed by the famous veteran actor. It is also the first film made by Shane Hamill and co-producer Ben Sweet.
Sir David and everyone else involved in the production of the film all agreed to work for nothing.
The film is to be shown at the Cannes Film Festival and at others across the world.
Mr Hamill said: “The opening of a film is extremely important and Umbrella World provided brollies for the shot.
“The quality of the product was outstanding and the professionalism of Rebecca and her team fantastic.
“The company has also offered us brollies with our logo on because we have such a good relationship.”
And although Rebecca won’t be at Cannes, she said: “They can take the umbrellas with them just in case it rains in Cannes or even on the red carpet in case it is wet.
“If David Jason needs an umbrella to keep him dry, we would be happy to oblige.”
