ATTENDING an early morning business breakfast club helped a company secure a contract worth £250,000.
Andy Starr proved the early bird catches the worm after landing the deal at the Business Over Breakfast networking club.
Mr Starr, who owns telecomms solution firm, Open IP Ltd, secured the contract shortly after taking up membership.
It is one of the biggest single deals to have come out of the national networking club, which meets fortnightly and encourages people to promote their business and build useful contacts.
It was a one-to-one meeting with one of the other members that resulted in the huge deal.
Mr Starr said: “I arranged to meet with IT consultant Chris Houghton after the breakfast meeting as I thought our businesses might be able to work together.”
“It turns out Chris had just taken on a large contract at his IT firm Eventura, and was looking for a new phone system that could link three major sites up, which is where my services were brought in.
“Over the next five years, the deal will generate more than £250,000 for my firm, so the early mornings have more than paid off.”
BoB Clubs meet every other Thursday at The Holiday Inn Hotel, Higher Bridge Street, Bolton at 7am.
Members get the chance to promote their business during a 60 to 90 second pitch and pass referrals to each other.
