BUSINESSES could receive a boost simply by adding videos to their websites, says a Bolton film firm.
Results for web searches in Google are now being listed according to new factors, including original video and written content — and time spent by readers on them — say bosses from Videobaby.
The use of short videos and good content will raise a website’s chance of a higher ranking, says Clare Aindow, who runs the firm with husband Matt, both aged 41.
They are targeting small firms which may think video is too expensive or have never considered it.
Mrs Aindow said: “We have been in video production for more than 15 years and have done work for local authorities, TV and the NHS.
“We have a passion for video but want to make it affordable and de-bunk it.
“The industry can be rife with big egos and crews, which all comes at a cost for customers. Our quality is the same or higher than a typical London crew.
“But Videobaby is about bringing good web videos to small firms who think they can’t afford it.”
A good web video should be no longer than two minutes — one and a half minutes is ideal, said Mrs Aindow.
The firm also does animated graphics and logos, and “green-screen” image superimposition.
Past work has included documentaries and DVD projects for the former East Bolton Regeneration project, and for Salford and Tameside councils.
Videobaby has also done smaller work for Granada TV and BBC North West.
Now focused on small firms, the firm’s recent customers have included a pallets firm, a function band, bathroom renovators, accountants and a language tutor firm..
Mrs Aindow grew up in Heaton and attended Bolton School.
Her brother, Charles Dagnall, is a former professional cricketer for Warwickshire and Leicester who played at Astley, Tyldesley and Wallshaw, Bury, when he was younger.
He is now a BBC commentator.
