AN information technology firm says businesses should consider remote “cloud computing”
to save costs and keep Bolton at the forefront of new developments.
Cloud Clever, based at Nelson Mill, Gaskell Street, Bolton, was set up by managing director Ben Griffiths last year after working for nine years as a director of another IT company. He grew up in Bolton and studied business and IT at Bolton College.
His firm provides IT maintenance and support for businesses of all sizes.
Its work includes maintaining traditional computer networks in offices along with new cloud operations which use servers elsewhere.
While many businesses may be happy with inhouse arrangements and feel they are not ready to move to a cloud set-up, the firm says the cost savings from cloud operations are significant and there is a wide choice of systems.
The firm has just completed work for Stafford & Co Chartered Accountants, which is located at the same site.
Stafford & Co was looking to change its IT support and its owner, Rob Stafford, who is also the President of the Bolton Society of Chartered Accountants, contacted Cloud Clever to assess the firm’s needs.
Mr Stafford, aged 33, said: “IT is fundamental to our work and we need a service that is reliable and efficient.
“Cloud Clever was able to work at the weekend to ensure that our work wasn’t disrupted and were able to start the Monday morning with our new system with as little hassle as possible.
“It was great to be able to work with another Bolton firm.
“It is important that Bolton businesses help each other out to ensure we keep local business and industry going and we don’t lose out on work from organisations in the bigger cities.”
Mr Griffiths, aged 31, said the accountancy firm was a welcome example of a forward-thinking business.
