A FLY-TIPPER admitted to dumping rubbish — in return for sunbed sessions and £30 cash.

Jacob Billy Smith dumped bunches of hair, paper towels and personal documents in Aqueduct Road in Darcy Lever.

The 22-year-old had agreed to take the rubbish to the tip in exchange for free tanning treatment at a Radcliffe beauty shop.

Environmental officers from Bolton Council traced the documents back to the boss of Divas Hair and Beauty World in Radcliffe.

This led them to Smith, who lives at Crompton Lodge Caravan Park, in Hall Lane, Moses Gate.

Cllr Sufrana Bashir-Ismail, Bolton Council’s cabinet member for community services, said the authority investigates all incidents of fly-tipping to find out who is responsible.

She added: “When we can identify those involved, we instruct them to clean it up, issue fines and ultimately take them to court if necessary.

“It is important that businesses and residents take responsibility to ensure that they dispose of their rubbish appropriately for the benefit of our environment and for everyone in Bolton.

“I hope these prosecutions send out a clear message to those who think they can get away with fly-tipping and expect others to pick up the cost of disposing of their rubbish.”

Smith pleaded guilty to fly-tipping at Bolton Magistrates’ Court and was ordered to pay a fine of £100, plus £200 prosecution costs and a £20 victim surcharge.

Divas Hair and Beauty World is now closed.

The owners could not be reached for comment.

A second man, Bartosz Motyka of Shepherd Cross Street, Halliwell, also pleaded guilty to flytipping at the back of houses in Oxford Grove.

Council officers found 12 bins filled with waste linked to Motyka, aged 30, on December 16.

He initially admitted to placing seven bags of waste outside his house, claiming bin men had not picked up his rubbish on two occasions.

But further investigations revealed there were no missed collections on his street.

Motyka was fined £160 with a £20 victim surcharge and £200 legal costs.
