A GUN dealer and another man accused of conspiracy to possess firearms have refused to give evidence in court.

The jury in the trial of Cyrus Shahabi-Shack and Louis Larsson has now heard all evidence in the case.

Shahabi-Shack, a 57-year-old owner firearms dealer, is accused of passing 34 guns brought to him at The Lancashire Gunroom in Halliwell Road, Halliwell, by Frank Rushton, aged 83, to Larsson to sell on the criminal black market.

Henry Blackshaw, prosecuting, told the court in his closing speech that the pair have not given evidence because they would have no answer to the case that would stand up to “serious questioning”.

Mr Rushton took his guns to the shop in the summer of 2010 as a change to the law had made them illegal and he had not renewed his registration to own them. Mr Rushton’s collection consisted of 20 pistols and 14 rifles and shotguns.

Shahabi-Shack, of Lever Park Avenue, Horwich, and Larsson, aged 28, of Fossgill Avenue, Bradshaw, both deny conspiracy to possess firearms, with Shahabi-Shack also accused of possessing an illegal firearm.

The trial continues.
