A DRIVER has been electronically tagged after a court heard how she ploughed into a parked car when drunk.

Bolton magistrates heard how Ann Grundy was driving a Kia Piccanto in Hill Top, Little Lever, when she hit the vehicle on August 29 and was arrested.

Nicola Ormerod, prosecuting, said Grundy admitted to police she had been drinking and breath tests revealed she had consumed three-and-a-half times the drink-drive limit.

Margaret McCormack, defending, said Grundy, aged 55, of Radcliffe Road, Darcy Lever, was an alcoholic who suffered from liver problems and depression.

She said Grundy had once had a responsible job but had taken early retirement and was living on savings while trying to deal with her addiction.

Mrs McCormack added that Grundy had held a driving licence for 30 years and was “devastated” to be identified as a criminal.

Grundy, who pleaded guilty to drink-driving, was given a four-month 7pm to 7am curfew which will be electronically monitored, banned from driving for 29 months and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £60 victim surcharge.
