A BOLTON man has been caught on CCTV apparently kicking a dog in the face.

The incident happened at about 4.30pm on Tuesday, November 18, in Watermead Works, Slater Lane, Bolton.

The dog's reaction was so loud that people in a nearby building overheard the attack and reported it to the RSPCA.

Inspectors checked CCTV and found the footage of the man, which you can watch below.

One worker at the firm, who asked not to be named, told The Bolton News: “There was a horrendous howl from the dog.

“It was quite loud, and that was what made us look at each other and ask what it was, before looking at the CCTV.

“It looks like he was stamping on the dog’s paws too.

“I’d never seen the man before – he was quite thuggish in his mannerisms, quite a tall guy with a stocky build.”

The dog appears to be a mastiff or boxer-cross and had a red harness on.

RSPCA inspector Charlotte Melvin said: “We want to trace the man and dog in the CCTV.

“The man appears to kick the dog multiple times in the face and then grab the dog around the mouth and hold it.

“We don’t know who this man is, and presume the dog is still in his care.

“If you have any specific information about this person then please call the RSPCA’s inspector appeal line and ask to leave a message for me.”

The man was wearing a dark jacket with a hood and blue jeans and had short, light brown hair.

The dog appears to be brindle, with white feet.

Insp Melvin added: "Naturally we are worried about the dog’s welfare at this time. If he is doing something like this in a public place I’m very concerned about what could be happening behind closed doors.

"If you know who this person is, please call us. If you recognise it as you, we’d like to hear from you."

Anyone with information can call the RSPCA on 0300 1238018.
