A TEACHER who has admitted trying to join ISIS fighters in Syria will now be sentenced next month.

Jamshed Javeed, who taught science at Sharples High School, admitted preparing himself and others for acts of terrorism at Woolwich Crown Court last month.

He was due to be sentenced on December 12, but the hearing was adjourned.

Javeed, aged 30 , of Cringle Road, Levenshulme, faces a potential life sentence.

His family had pleaded with him not to travel to the war-torn country, and even hid his passports and equipment he had bought to take with him, but Javeed was insistent.

Javeed was willing to leave his pregnant wife and child behind after applying for a new passport when police swooped to arrest him in December last year.
