A TONGE Moor man accused of raping two women has been found guilty of threatening to kill one of his alleged victims.

But the jury is still out on the other eight counts Christopher Harwood denies, which are five rapes, one attempted rape, another threat to kill and the possession of a firearm.

The jury will enter its third day of deliberations on Monday after Harwood was found guilty of threatening to kill one of the women yesterday.

The court has been told how Harwood allegedly carried out the rapes between 2006 and 2013, with his first alleged victim held at gunpoint during one of the attacks.

The second woman was said to have been strung up on makeshift gallows, and was only released when she started "making noises", the court has heard.

During the course of the trial, Harwood's defence counsel has highlighted the significant impact his mother's suicide will have had on him just before the offences started.

The court has also been told that Harwood got in contact with both women while in custody, prompting the pair to separately write to the judge, with each believing that they still loved him.

The first set of sexual allegations against Harwood was dropped after the woman retracted her complaint.

But the case was reopened after the second woman came forward in August, 2013, alleging Harwood had raped her and made threats to kill her.

Harwood, aged 34, of Tintern Avenue, will learn his fate on the other counts on Monday.

The trial continues.
