TWO more men have been arrested after gunman opened fire on a house in Little Hulton.

Police were called to the end-terrace residential property in Thornfield Grove in the early hours of Wednesday.

The shot appeared to have been fired at an upstairs window, with the glass broken, and police confirmed there was damage to the house consistent with firearms discharge.

Five men have now been arrested after two more were caught on Wednesday night.

A 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear or violence, while a 20-year-old was arrested for the same reason and on suspicion of drugs possession.

They have been bailed until 9 October 2015, along with a 20-year-old man, 18-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy who were also arrested yesterday.

Nobody was hurt during what police believe to be a targeted incident.

Supt Mark Kenny of GMP’s Salford Division said: “We have made a further two arrests in relation to this incident bringing the total number of suspects in custody to five.

“I know the recent events in Salford have understandably caused some concern within the community but I hope the swift action in relation to this particular one shows the public just how serious we are about tackling incidents of this nature.

“The investigation is very much on-going and as I have previously said, a large part of this can rest on assistance coming in from the public so I would like to continue to urge anybody with information to please contact police.”

The Little Hulton shooting is one of 18 firearms incidents in Salford in 15 months, including the assassination of former Salford mayoral candidate Paul Massey in his garden in Bolton Road, Clifton on July 26.

The investigation continues and enquiries are ongoing.
